Sometimes I sit back and think about how often our ideas of fashion change. How often we are thrown ideas from Hollywood about what is “cool” or currently “in style” and we just wear it, no questions asked. Audrey Hepburn once said, “Elegance is the only beauty that never fades.” How true that is. We can always throw on the latest fashion trend with no thought of our own or spend hours with our noses in the most current fashion magazines seeking out the latest fads, but it all amounts to a hill of beans if you do not possess elegance along with your well thought out ensemble. Being fashionable is not just mindlessly throwing on the latest styles, it is feeling a sense of pride and uniqueness in your entire outfit. If Audrey Hepburn taught us anything about fashion I think it is just that, to be fashionable, but also be you. To be so unique in your thought and care of how you present yourself that others can’t help but follow suit. So, in other words think about what you wear and make sure that the style you try, reflects who you are as a person, not just the latest fad!
Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite people. Not because we share the same name (which is awesome by the way) or because she was a famous actress, but because she was so unique and made a huge impact on not only the fashion world, but the world in general. She is a picture of style, elegance and grace. I named this post “The Modern Audrey” because this outfit reminded me of something Audrey Hepburn would wear if she were alive today.
This combination of a black and white striped shirt with a red high-waisted skirt is simple, yet so complex at the same time. I love wearing high-waisted skirts! They are a fashion staple within my wardrobe and I hope they never go out of style. I found this red skirt at goodwill and I was so excited when I did, because I had been looking for one for some time. I would always search the “red” area in Goodwill with no luck until recently when I almost jumped for joy in the middle of the skirt aisle! Next, these sunglasses are stunning. They unmistakably reflect Audrey Hepburn in their design and just happen to be named after me. 😉 I fell in love at first sight and knew I had to have them. I found them, via the ever addicting Pinterest, on a cute little site which is linked below. You should check them out! Last, but not least, this purse belonged to my Mawmaw (My mother’s mother). My mom gave it to me shortly after my Mawmaw passed because she thought it fit my personality and style so well. It may be just a simple, black purse, but I know the history behind it, which makes it so special and unique to me. As always, thanks for reading my little fashion blog!
