Worlds Collide

If I had to guess I would say that my wardrobe is made up of around 50% thrifted items and 50% UAL Couture items, or pretty close to it anyway. And man do I absolutely love it when those two ends of the spectrum come together to make one spectacular outfit! There are days when I am fully dressed in one or the other, but typically I am clad in UAL pants with a thrifted top and the funny thing is no one can ever tell the difference. It makes me laugh when one of my customers asks, with an inquisitive glance, if a thrifted item is a certain high end designer. I laugh and reply, “No, it’s Leslie Fay or St. Johns Bay!” and they always respond with a shocked look and a “Really?!” It just goes to show that labels are not as important as we might think and that an outfit only looks as good as the confidence and creativity you put into it! I could wear an all thrifted outfit and still look like I shop at a high end retailer simply because I put thought and effort into the planning of the outfit and wear it with confidence. In my wardrobe all pieces are considered equal and are able to be worn with every other piece! I have no problem mixing a J.W. Anderson skirt with a vintage Chico’s Jackets and telling everyone about it! With this being said, I do have a huge appreciation for high end designers and sometimes get light headed being surrounded by such beautifully constructed pieces of clothing at work. I would be lying if I didn’t consider these pieces an amazing addition to my wardrobe and so much fun to wear and own! BUT, you don’t always have to be able to purchase high end designer clothing to look like you walk to streets of New York Fashion week! It is possible to look chic and still pay your rent every month!

Do y’all ever look at pieces in your closet and think, “Am I even cool enough to own/wear this piece?” This skirt and sweatshirt are those kind of pieces. I waited and waited for this embellished sweatshirt to get marked down for foreverrrr before I finally snatched it up! I can’t help but feel like a rockstar when I wear it! This skirt was thrifted from a friend of mine (Check out her insta below!) and I mean, who could not love this amazing piece of fabric?? I feel so lucky that I get to express my creativity in this way everyday and I am beyond grateful that you all choose to share in my journey with me! Much love!

 Affectionately, Audrey ❤

  1. Great look! And I totally agree, you don’t have to wear super expensive designer pieces to look a million bucks. You just build your looks on your own style and make sure that you’re owning it all the way!

  2. I absolutely love this quote, “It just goes to show that labels are not as important as we might think and that an outfit only looks as good as the confidence and creativity you put into it!” You have to rock that confidence before anything else!! Fashion doesn’t wear you and neither does it labels, you wear fashion!! Great post. Looking forward to reading the next one.
