Three’s Company

Why mix two prints when you can mix three? You all know that I am a huge advocate of pushing myself out of my own comfort zone and creating something I haven’t created before. Unfortunately, I cannot claim premeditated creativity for this outfit because it was born out of necessity in a very short amount of time. That is what happens when you get chocolate on your all-white outfit 20 minutes before you have to leave for your photo shoot. I always joke that my life is a series of hilarious events and this instance is no different. I was waiting to leave to shoot outfits for my blog when I looked down and saw a huge spot of chocolate on the front of the white skirt I had planned to wear. I shouted, “Where’d that come from?!” and frantically began to change my clothes knowing I wouldn’t have time to remove the chocolate from the skirt. I started throwing clothes everywhere, when I noticed this skirt I purchased from Goodwill earlier in the week. I grabbed it and began searching for something, anything that would match. Just in the knick of time my eyes picked up on the pale yellow flowers in the skirt and matched it to this jacket and the bare bones of the outfit were born! The rest came together quickly and I was miraculously out the door in time for my shoot!

Outfits don’t always have to be planned down to the letter hours in advance. Sometimes it’s nice to throw a little spontaneity and innovation into your daily routine and see where it takes you. Some of my best outfits were created on a day when I had little to no time to get ready and had to throw something on quickly or risk being late for work.  This will also push you creatively because you won’t have the time to overanalyze every detail of the outfit repeatedly, resulting in frustration or perceived failure. So make yourself try it! Give yourself limited time to get an outfit together without planning anything in advance, and see what you come up with! Side note: It would be wise to use this tactic when you are headed to an event with a less strict arrival time until you are a little more comfortable. Using this tactic will help push you creatively and you will be forced to leave the house wearing whatever you come up with! No matter what happens, always rock your outfit with your most valuable accessory: confidence! 😉

Affectionately, Audrey ❤
